Arguably LEGO and Blue Ocean are victims of their own constant muddying up the waters with their own faux imagery and like it or not, there just isn’t a Dark Red apple. However, that’s where the wheels come off fro me. One such scenario would be when they bring you an apple to save you from starving to death and this exact scenario is depicted here. They’re apparently called Allay and can be useful but at the same time just as naughty. For the back side they opted to give us a helper ghost. The poster would be similarly okay, if only… But I’m getting ahead of myself! The front poster is another depiction of the underwater temple and its guardians. For the most part it provides a nice triple balance of warm yellow tones along with greens and hints of cyan/ turquoise/ azure, drawn in nice perspectives. The commit itself is pleasantly colorful and varied – that is within the limitations of the Minecraft world, of course. You know, those Photoshop hacks next to the comic just look gaudy. Call me old-fashioned, but it’s just not nice to look at and not very inviting, even more so given Blue Ocean‘s ineptitude and lack of graphics design prowess. The first half of the mag doesn’t have a single double-spread and it’s all interrupted by the quizzes and puzzles. I have to give a bit of a rant right from the outset, with the comic being extremely fragmented again. For now let’s see what the October 2023 LEGO Minecraft magazine is delivering. I was barely even able to motivate myself for the magazine reviews, though somehow I still managed to pull them together in a timely fashion. The heat isn’t really for me and as a child of autumn I do much prefer milder temperatures. It’s finally getting colder outside, so hopefully I’m going to get more stuff done again after my summer slump.
